Sharp: mastering the art originality

Sharp is one of the solar industry’s true innovators – and a long-term Endurans® Solar customer. So, it was no surprise when they became one of the first solar players to switch to our Endurans® HP D15 backsheet – for use in their residential rooftop solar panels in Japan and for highly efficient project panels in Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The company mantra of the Sharp global electronics brand is ‘be original’. They were one of the first solar pioneers (having begun exploring this technology 60 years ago) – which is why in our long-standing relationship with them (first as DSM, now as Endurans) we’ve always strived to live up to that promise of originality.

Given this shared mission, it was no surprise when Sharp was one of the solar players to switch to our Endurans® HP D15 backsheet – for use in residential rooftop solar panels sold in its domestic Japanese market. The product delivers an outstanding performance-price ratio based on a more affordable material stack, yet performance is extremely high in moisture protection, sand abrasion resistance and mechanical, UV and chemical resistance.

Now Sharp is using this backsheet for project solar panels marketed to customers in Europe, Middle East and Africa. “Sharp is a company we have worked with successfully for many years and as you would expect, their quality and service requirements are extremely high,” says Endurans business director, Vivek Chaturvedi. “We share those high standards and look forward to meeting them for many years to come.”
